Malaysian team calls on Cheema | Islamabad |

Islamabad: To promote the linkages and partnership in technical and vocational sector especially in the field of construction, between Pakistan and Malaysia, a five-member high-powered delegation from Malaysian Construction, Industry Development Board (CIDB) called on the Executive Director NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema here Friday.

The Malaysian official appreciated the recently held skills competition in Lahore and said that they were thoroughly impressed with the enthusiasm and interest of youth towards this sector.

He praised the quality of training imparted to the young men and women and said that Pakistani skilled workforce have bright chances of securing jobs in Malaysian construction industry.

During the meeting, the executive director briefed the delegation on the milestone achieved by NAVTTC in bringing a paradigm shift in TVET delivery in Pakistan. He explained the role of NAVTTC as an apex body at the national level mandated to regulate and frame the policies and provide directions to all stakeholders of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in the country.

He stressed that Pakistan and Malaysia share friendly and brotherly ties and it would benefit both the parties to learn from each other’s experiences and quality of vocational training standards.

Cheema informed the delegation about different aspects of training and NAVTTC’s recent initiative of replacing the old; time bound and outdated system of examination with modern method of assessment in practice in the developed countries.

Malaysian delegation commended the role of NAVTTC in holding skills competitions, establishing Job Placement Centres and devising new assessment system.
